Musk excitment about India’s electric car goals for 2030, Mahindra invites competition

"Tesla CEO, Elon Musk took to Twitter to praise the Indian government’s plans of selling only electric cars by 2030,India commits to sell only electric cars by 2030. It is already the largest market for solar power."
Elon Musk quoted a World Economic Forum report which outlined the government’s interest in making the shift possible after a report put together by Greenpeace stated that a staggering 1.2 million deaths in the country were attributed to air pollution.
Musk who heads Tesla, had Anand Mahindra, the Executive Chairman of the Mahindra Group reply to his tweet inviting him to intensify the competition in India.
The government announcement would delight environmentalists. However, the oil industry would take a massive hit if this were to happen. India is the world’s third largest oil importer, spending about $150 billion on the resource every year.

The government is up to the task of transforming the market in 13 years.
